The oath of the lion
The Lion Guard began as a protective force for the bridge roads. Its commanders were expected to keep the crossings safe, even when storms, conflict or scarce supplies threatened the lives of travelers.
Its golden lion insignia is a promise the guard has not always lived up to. For the people of the distant frontiers, the emblem can symbolize rescue—or the moment they were left behind.
The exile of Aren Kest
Once a respected commander, Aren Kest refused to abandon settlements beyond the kingdom’s outer defenses. The choice saved lives and cost him his command.
Even in exile, Aren continues to wear the golden lion. Whether the order deserves his loyalty is a question only the coming crisis can answer.
